FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How fast will a Level 2 charger charge my electric car?+
A Level 2 charger (240V / 40A–50A) typically charges an EV from empty to full in 4 to 8 hours (around 30–45 miles of range per hour).
Should I hardwire my charger or use a NEMA 14-50 plug?+
Hardwiring allows faster charging (up to 48–60 amps) and eliminates the need for an extra plug connection. A NEMA 14-50 outlet allows you to easily unplug and take the charger with you.
Does my home need a 200-amp panel to install an EV charger?+
In most cases, homes with a 200-amp panel have plenty of capacity. If you have a 100-amp panel, we will calculate your total load and let you know if a panel upgrade or load shed device is required.
Are there utility rebates for installing an EV charger in Oregon?+
Yes. Both PGE and Pacific Power offer cash rebates for installing qualified Level 2 smart chargers. We provide all the invoices and documentation you need to claim your rebate.
